My Heart is Like A Zoo

I loved this book when I bought it last year and I still do.  My Heart is Like a Zoo has so many fun things you can do with it.  Each page has a picture of an animal that is made out of hearts.  The author uses words like eager and hopeful to describe his heart and the animals in the zoo.

After a lot of encouragement, my three year old decided that we could read this book last night.  We read it by the fireplace, which is our favorite reading spot!  He seems to be against reading new books lately, but once I read a new book once, he can't get enough.  We must have read this about 5 times last night!  While reading this we talked about colors, shapes, and counted the hearts.

I told the boys that we could make some of the animals when we woke up and that is exactly what we did this morning.

I did some prep work for 4 animals earlier this week, so all they would have to do was glue.

Jumpy as a Frog.

Little Guy working on the silly seal.

Big Guy working as quiet as a caterpillar.

The Big Guy was done, but the Little Guy kept going.

Here are some of our finished products.  What started off as a project that was going to last about 15 minutes ended up lasting for about an hour!  You never know what to expect!

Walrus

Bear

Caterpillar

Seal
There are also a few printable pages from the publishers site that you can color and cut out instead of cutting the hearts out of construction paper.
