A Box of Books!

A box of books you can play with and read!

My three year old received this box of animal books from the Easter Bunny and we have been reading and playing with them ever since!  There is no need for a craft or game with this book.  The box and books provide all of the entertainment you need!

My Animal World is by KaneMiller publishing and is a box of 15 miniature board books about animals ranging from cats, tigers, snakes and sharks.  Each book shares the same information about each of the animals.  In each book you learn the animals name, where it lives, what it eats, what the baby animals are called, and the sound that the animal makes.  After reading one book, my son started looking through all of the others and read them to himself.  Later on he was so excited to tell me that he read the shark book to his little sister.  He was very proud!

Here are some of the things we have done with these books.
Taken the books out and lined them up in a nice "neat" row.
Read the books!
Stacked the books like blocks as we read each one.
Matched the books up with the pictures in the box, so they are put back in the right spot.
My three year old reads these books to me at night!  He has gotten so used to the pattern of the books that he can remember what each page says and uses the pictures to help him out when he forgets.  He knows words like savanna and watering hole all because of these books.  The connections he makes between these books are fantastic too!  When he reads that the shark eats fish, he tells me that the cat eats fish too.

We have also sorted the animals by what they eat (fish, meat, vegetables) and how they move.  You can sort where they live or how many legs they have.  The ideas for playing with these book are endless!  Can you see why this box of books has become a favorite?

One night I had put my son to bed and when I went upstairs to check on him he had his light turned on.  He was sitting in bed reading his little animal books.  Staying up late to read books...sounds like he is turning out just like his mom!

  1. My son has a box of books with the Cars Movie theme. There's not as many, but he loves them! I think mostly because they are small and just his size, but he is constantly putting them in and out of the box and stacking them too. :)
