The Enormous Elephant Show is is an AlphaTales book. In this book, Elvin the Elephant puts on a show. He does all sorts of things that start with the letter e. Elvin sends e-mail, wears elegant clothes, and climbs evergreen trees. My son thinks this book is so funny. He laughs at every page and especially loved the page where the elephant is baking elderberry pies. He told me, "He is too big to make pies!"
This isn't my favorite as far as story lines go, but I love that my son looks at every page and finds "big" Es and "small" Es. I also really like the letter E cheer that is in the back. The last page is a picture for searching for "E" words and is a great way to review some of the letter e words that have been read in the book. There is also a page full of reading tips in the back of this book.
We have the set of Alphatales books, but this is the first that we have read over and over. I think I might choose a new AlphaTales book next week, so we can practice learning about at new letter!
Since my son was getting so good at recognizing the letter "E" I printed out a letter maze from 1+1+1=1. This is definitely my favorite site for printables. My son once again had a different plan than I did.
Here he is using his dot markers each time he found the letter B. I printed out a bunch of letter mazes and was planning on him trying the letter E, but he wanted to work on the letter B. We didn't find them in order, but he did a great job recognizing the letters. I really like these mazes and they are available for free if you are a subscriber to 1+1+1=1 blog until the end of May. Make sure you check it out.
