A Week's Worth of Our Favorite Mommy Books
Book #3
Karen Katz books are our absolute favorite baby books! We have many of them on our bookshelves! Where is Baby's Mommy? by Karen Katz is a book we have been reading since our first started to love lift the flap books! In this book, baby plays hide and seek with his mommy. He searches through the house for his mommy, but finds many other things instead. Of course, Baby finds Mommy at the end.
4. The boys will never stop shocking me with some of the places they try to hide.
Before we read Where is Baby's Mommy, we played hide and seek ( just like the characters in the book) for about 20 minutes. We had a lot of fun, especially since bed time is usually Daddy's job! Since he wasn't home tonight, the kids and I enjoyed our "extra" time together and I learned a few new things about hide and seek.
1. I can put away half of a load of laundry while I count to 50 and the boys hide.
2. Baby Girl and/or the dog will most likely give up my hiding spot, so I don't have to worry about the boys not being able to find me.
3. It is an easy way to get the kids to laugh, play, and burn 15 minutes before bedtime.
4. The boys will never stop shocking me with some of the places they try to hide.
Before finding my son in the basket, I heard him ask, "Mommy, can you help me?" Both boys had emptied out the shoes from the basket and tried to squish inside. I think my kindergartner was a little disappointed that he was too big to squeeze into the basket!

Karen Katz is one of my favorite authors! I love that her flaps are so sturdy. Great book extender activity.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Simple is usually the best! I agree that the sturdy flaps are great. We have only lost a couple pages in all of our Karen Katz books over the last five years.
