In Not A Box the rabbit in the book is asked what he is doing in a box, on a box, etc. The rabbit replies, "This is not a box." The illustration shows what the rabbit imagines the box to be. He makes it a race car, a mountain, and a space shuttle.
This book really forced my son to talk because after every page I asked him what the rabbit was pretending the box to be, and my son was VERY excited to tell me!
We have always been cardboard box lovers and here are some of the fun things we have made with them!
After a trip to the planetarium last year, we made a space shuttle!
We made a giant rainbow out of a cardboard box for St. Patrick's Day. Check out our post HERE!
For Christmas, we decorated part of a cardboard box to look like a Christmas tree. We painted the box green, added ornaments with markers, and of course had to glue a star to the top!
This Easter we made Easter Bunny Baskets. Check out our post HERE!
We just made Grandma Tildy's house from But No Elephants out of a tissue box! Read about our adventure HERE.
These are just a few of our favorite cardboard box projects! What have you made?

I've always enjoyed Not a Stick! by the same author. Bobo is more of a stick boy. We went on some trails today, and he kept grabbing the largest branches he could find and dragging them until he got tired or found an even bigger one.
ReplyDeleteI have seen Not a Stick! at the library, but we haven't read it yet.
