Today my little boy turned six! How does a six year old want to spend his birthday? At the pool! What do you do if it is not warm enough? Head to the Extreme Bug exhibit at the zoo instead.
Here are some of the highlights from our day!
Becoming Bug Inspectors
Roach Races
Praying Mantis Puppets and Stuffed Turtles
Pictures with a Pony
Feeding and Brushing Goats
Face Painting
Blue Raspberry Icees
Mold-A-Rama Polar Bears and Rhinos
Naps in the Car
Pizza
Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream
Ladder Ball
Basketball
Giant Balloons
Reading with Mommy AND Daddy at Bedtime (it is usually one or the other)
Big Disappointment of the Day...taking pictures all day long with his new camera and then deleting them all before we got home. OOOPS! I think he might be more careful with the buttons he pushes next time. Thank goodness there were no tears. There would have been if it was me!
Of course, we had to end our day with a great birthday book!
Curious George and the Birthday Surprise is one of our favorite Curious George books. In the story, George is told to keep himself busy while the man in the yellow hat gets ready for a party, George wonders who the party is for until the very end when he realizes it is his birthday party! I love the details in the illustrations of this book. After reading this book many times, we have noticed that Curious George tries to make his own icing with vinegar and oil, the man with the yellow hat buys Curious George coconut ice-cream to go with his cake, and the birthday decorations that George puts in the room are so festive!
Happy Birthday Little Man!
