Usborne Illustrated Stories for Boys

Vacation certainly threw us for a loop!  My boys and I are just having a difficult time getting back into the swing of things.  I am hoping that tomorrow will get better, but I know that it will take a lot of effort on my part!  I better get a good night's sleep tonight!

The first thing I am doing to work on making our day better tomorrow is letting the boys take the lead on what activities we are doing for the next couple of weeks.  Because of this, I have decided that I am not continuing with my Beach Read Week.  My boys are just not into it.  I guess they got enough beach reading in last week, and I am not going to push them to participate in things that they aren't interested in right now.  Instead, I am taking their lead. They chose a bunch of science and lemonade books when we were at the library this week, so we will see where those books lead us!  When we are all happy with what we are reading, inspiration strikes!

But for now, the book of the day...

A few weeks ago my husband and I gave our son some books on his last day of kindergarten.  One of the books was Usborne Illustrated Stories for Boys.  I am not the biggest fan of books with multiple stories.  In fact, I would much rather buy separate books, but I was told good things about this book so I decided to get it for my six year old.  When he opened it, he was so excited!  "Wow, this is a BIG book!" he said.  He was eager to read it right away.

I guess I will be buying more of these books with collections of stories than I have in the past.  My son thought he was so important having such a big book to read, and has read each story in the book at least once.  The first night we read about 5 stories!

Usborne Illustrated Stories for Boys is a book with many stories about all things that boys like.  There are adventures with robots, pirates, monsters, and knights!  Each story is short enough that we can read a few of them a night, and we did for about the first two weeks that we had this book!  I even took it on vacation in my carry on because it was such a favorite!  My son is really enjoying the robot stories right now.  I am enjoying the fact that there is a book we are both eager to reach for at bedtime!

  1. I think that's great that you're letting the boys take the lead! I always have to stop myself and say...will G like this? What would he enjoy doing (since he can't tell me yet!). Sometimes he really surprises me. I'll have to check out this book that you recommended today! Thanks for sharing. :)
