Have you heard about the Summer Book Exchange hosted by The Educator's Spin On It? We are so happy to have been a part of it.
Zoomer is a book about a dog that tells his family he will not be going to school. His brothers give him a hard time as they are getting ready for school and Zoomer is busy acting like a super hero, building dinosaurs out of sand, making castles out of dog food, blowing gigantic bubbles, and building a rocket. By the time it is time to walk to the school bus, Zoomer's dad doesn't know how to get Zoomer to go to school! Soon Zoomer explains the reason he isn't going to school...can you guess what day it is?
In this book, Zoomer stays so busy that it was easy to think of some fun activities that boys might want to do after reading this book.
We hope 3Readers had a great time with their book package! Be sure to check out The Educator's Spin On It: Love Books Page, so that you can find a ton of other great books and activities!

We sent the kids super hero capes and paint to decorate. After decorating they can wear them while they play super heroes just like Zoomer.
My boys wanted an orange cape of their own. I think we might just have to try this out ourselves!
We also sent them 2 cans of dog food. Since Zoomer built a gigantic castle out of dog food, the boys were supposed to use their "dog food" to create anything they wanted. This dog food was really chocolate play dough.
The last activity we sent them was a look and find. There were pictures of small things found throughout the book, and they needed to search for them as they read. We also gave clues to help them out if they weren't able to find them on their own. Much of this book is told through the pictures, so this was to encourage the kids to pay attention to all of the little details the illustrator includes in his illustrations.
