Can you believe it was already time to turn in our completed summer reading to our library this week? The summer has gone by so fast, and I am dreading the start of school in a few weeks. I wish our summer was a little longer, but I know that we have made sure we have enjoyed it as much as possible.
One of the prizes from our summer reading program at the library was a free book for each child that participated. My six year old was so excited to look through the big basket of books to find his prize!
He quickly picked out a book about a dog. He chose Talk, Oscar, Please! by Karen Kaufman Orloff and told me "I love books with dogs!"
When we got home he was very happy to have a bag full of new chapter books, a couple of movies, and his free book! It was one of the three books he chose to read tonight and it was a very sweet!
Talk, Oscar, Please! is a book about a little boy who wishes that his dog could talk. He imagines what it would be like to go to school, hike, and visit a restaurant with his talking dog. The illustrations in this book are delightful and by the time you are done reading you will wish you had a dog as cute as Oscar, or if you already do, you will want to give your dog a hug!
